Weekend Wedding in Merrickville

Before we begin showing you Fani and Nacho’s Weekend Wedding in Merrickville, we’d like to acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded territory of the Anishnabe Algonquin Nation.

Fani & Nacho

A recent winter elopement in Merrickville brought together everything we love about small weddings: meaningful moments, a beautiful setting, and a day that truly reflected the couple. Fani and Nacho chose Maple and Rose in Merrickville as their base for the day. Maple and Rose is an intimate, historic home that offered both comfort and character. From a snowy forest ceremony to a private chef-prepared dinner, their elopement was simple, cozy, and full of intention.

First Look Inside Maple & Rose

Before heading out into the snow, Fani and Nacho shared a quiet first look inside Maple and Rose. This part of the day gave them a chance to take it all in together before everything kicked off. We love this approach! It helps ease nerves and lets couples connect before the ceremony. The warm light inside, paired with the calm energy of the house, made it the perfect backdrop for this part of their story. After taking a few portraits and soaking in the moment, it was time to bundle up and head to the forest.

A Snowy Forest Ceremony and Private Chef Dinner

Everyone met at Maple and Rose, then drove to Story Trail. The group walked about 5–10 minutes through the snowy forest to the ceremony spot. Thankfully, our coordinator Britt had prepped the trail earlier that day and cleared a space for everyone to stand for the ceremony.

Fani walked in with her dad through the trees, where Nacho was waiting. The ceremony included a handfasting with a Celtic knot, adding a symbolic touch to the moment.

After the ceremony, everyone celebrated with champagne. One of our favourite details was that Britt placed the champagne glasses in the snow prior to the ceremony. So everyone enjoyed snow-chilled champagne before heading back to Maple and Rose for the evening. While final touches were being made to dinner, guests enjoyed snacks, drinks, and relaxed while photos were taken around the property.

Fani and Nacho shared a candlelit first dance in the living room, and dinner was served shortly after. With a private chef preparing everything, the meal felt relaxed but elevated—perfect for an intimate winter wedding. The setup was warm, charming, and made the most of the cozy, historic space.
